Ghostty's terminal core, built as a library. In sparkles:terminal it parses every byte a program writes to the terminal and holds the screen — the grid, the scrollback, the modes and the cursor that sparkles:terminal-view draws. hue runs a second, off-screen instance to decode the escape sequences in ansi code blocks, so a coloured example renders as it would in a terminal. Both reach it through sparkles:ghostty.

The window, the OpenGL context, input and the frame loop of every graphical sparkles application. sparkles:ui-raylib draws the toolkit's frames with it, sparkles:raylib-text uploads glyph atlases through it, and on Android its native-activity platform layer is how sparkles:terminal and hue get a surface and touch events at all. raylib carries small single-header libraries of its own (stb, rlgl), covered by the same licence.

The FreeType 2 font engine is copyrighted work and cannot be used
legally without a software license. In order to make this project
usable to a vast majority of developers, we distribute it under two
mutually exclusive open-source licenses.

- The FreeType License, found in the file `docs/FTL.TXT`, which is

The language grammars hue highlights with — one parser per language, listed in nix/packages/ts-grammar-languages.nix, with the highlight queries that come with them. Most are the nixpkgs builds; a few are pinned upstream checkouts, and the D and SDLang grammars are maintained alongside this project. Some languages take their queries from nvim-treesitter. hue loads them as shared libraries on Android and from the bundle on the desktop; sparkles:terminal's document viewer uses the same bundle on the desktop and a common subset of it in its APK (markdown, D, C, Bash, Nix, JSON, YAML, TOML and Python).

The interface face: the terminal's own chrome — page titles, rows, chips and buttons — in its regular and bold weights, at the design system's type scale. The terminal for Android bundles it, since the phone's own faces are variable fonts its renderer cannot draw in bold; the desktop prefers the system's interface font and falls back to it. A D binding to Linux io_uring. sparkles:event-horizon's default backend on Linux is built on it, so on the desktop the terminal's pty reads and hue's file and process I/O complete through it. Android builds leave it out.
